1960s Princess Gardner leather purse in glam cherry red with gold-backed cutouts. Excellent condition.
Small red wallet made of buffalo calf and dating from the early 60s. The exterior front or face has a cross pattern cut into the leather, behind which is layered a sheet of bright gold.
The purse closes securely with a fold over snap tab that has an ingenious sliding mechanism (the female half of the snap closure) that makes allows the wallet to adjust in size, depending on the bulk of its contents.
To the interior is a billfold slot that can comfortably hold both US and EU bills/notes, a change pocket with two slots for coins and space for loose change (seals shut with another snap), and a little folder for photos, I.D., and credit cards (also closes with a sliding snap, see pic). In addition there is a concealed pocket that still contains the original, unused “Prince Gardner’ “HINT DROPPER”/“IDENTIFICATION" card.
In excellent vintage condition; this wallet has never been used; there are some faint marks to the leather from storage, but no dryness or cracking; there are also some marks on the photo panes, but these are likely to clean up.
Marked to the interior in gold “Princess Gardner” and two of the snaps are stamped “DOT SNAPPER”.
When folded closed, measures: 4.5” x 3.25” x 1”.
