1970s/1980s Mary Quant “Blue Moon” ‘dotty’ nylon tights, unused in original packaging. Medium. Made in England.
Pair of powder blue, semi-sheer spotted tights by Mary Quant. I believe these date from approximately 1979-1983, although the font on the packaging bears a remarkable similarity to Quant’s 1966 autobiography (see last pic), so the tights could indeed be older (although the models appear to be wearing 80s clothes). It should also be noted that the packaging shows quite a risqué image!
Made by NHC in England of 100% Nylon.
Marked a Size Medium.
Excellent condition with no noted flaws other than some wear to outer sleeve.
According to the V&A Museum, Welsh designer Mary Quant “may not have invented tights, but in the 60s, she was the reason most women were wearing them. She introduced vivid colours, glitter and patterned knits to the world of hosiery - perhaps the most revolutionary, yet underappreciated, of her ideas.”
