1940s/1950s green, pink and gold “Tri-Tie” with castles, fluteplayers, birds, stars, and sailboats. Japan.
Stunning flutter scarf for the neck or hair, showing castles, dhow boats, plants, potted flowers, doves, flute players, women in pergolas, and shooting stars in black, green, white, hot magenta-pink, and hand-applied gold paint.
Each of the ribbons is double-sided with the illustration mirror-printed on the reverse side. The ribbons are jade-green, seafoam and cream, and they are folded to one side and invisibly seamed on the other; they are stitched to one another at the neck with a tag that reads: PURE SILK/“TRI-TIE”/MADE IN JAPAN.
These ties were produced by Baar & Beards in Occupied Japan in the 40s and 50s.
Excellent vintage condition; the only flaws are a tiny pinkish stain (see pic) and some folds from storage; silk is still luminous and the colours are box-fresh.
Measures: 20” x 1 1/4”.
