1990 silver-plated, art nouveau style, tabletop picture frame w/flowers and butterflies & William Blake quote. Signed MASJ, Made in England.

€30.00

Romantic, oval frame garlanded in lilies and a pair of butterflies.

The back of the frame is also impressed with lilies, and the rim of the picture receptacle is inscribed with these lines from Blake’s lament on love, ‘How sweet I roam'd from field to field’, “He shewe'd me lilies for my hair, And blushing roses for my brow; He led me through his gardens fair, Where all his golden pleasures grow.”

The picture receptacle is fronted by glass and backed by a blue velvet pad held in place by two pins, one to each side.

To the interior, the frame is signed: “MASJ, 1990”. MASJ, or (Edward &) Maureen Ann Storey-Jones, produced their ‘Silver Scenes’ range in Mid Wales, Montgomeryshire, in the 1980s-1990s. Their pieces are very collectible, and this frame is especially appealing for fans of Georgian literature or William Blake.

The frame is cast pewter and plated in silver.

In very good condition with the only flaw being a little dent to the picture receptacle’s rim; this does not effect the use of the frame in any way.

Approximate measurements: 5” x 3 3/4”; weighs 161.6g.
