Antique Victorian pickle castor with handpainted wreath motif in green, gold, and red. 1875-1910.

€160.00

This pickle container has brass plating over a copper coloured metal (does not hold a magnet). The frame's handle is decorated to each side with four bows. The frame's base features four festooned columns.

The lid fits snugly but seems to be missing its finial. There is no fork and I can see no place where a fork might have once hung.

The glass is in excellent condition with no chips that I can detect, and, unusually, is round to the exterior, but faceted interiorly (ten panes). The glass is cut and decorated with what I believe is cold enamel in red, acid green, and a faded gold, depicting two beribboned wreaths.

No maker's marks.

Frame measures 10"high x 5"wide; glass 5.5"high x 4.5"diameter.
