1950s Trio of tiny Erzgebirge chirping wood birds hand painted in yellow, green, & taupe. Includes small, vintage blue plastic box ‘nest’. Mid Century.
Three darling little birds, either singing or chirping for food. Painted in subdued shades of green, mustard, olive, orange, brown, and black. Included is a small 1960s/1970s glossy, pearlescent plastic box and some hay wadding.
Unsigned, but likely made in the Erzgebirge region, Germany.
Would make a cute baby shower gift, or great for an Easter/Spring display.
The birds show some signs of wear, with each bearing a tiny bit of paint loss (see pics), the most noticeable of which is on their beaks and on the chest of the yellow bird (see pic), but they are otherwise very presentable and really quite charming little things! The box has some scuffs, but is otherwise in very good vintage condition.
Each bird measures approximately 2.2 x 1.8 x 0.8cm; when closed, box measures 5 x 3.5 x 1.5cm.
