1960s brass-cased cooking thermometer for candies, jams, etc. Celsius and Fahrenheit measurements. Made in England by “Brannan”.
Alcohol-thermometer with solid brass casing and solid copper hanging loop.
Temperature measurements are given in both Celsius (up to 190 degrees) and Fahrenheit (up to 375 degrees), and include measurements for “yoghurt”, “sterilise”, and “jam”, and candy-making milestones for “soft ball”, “hard ball”, “small crack”, “crack”, and “caramel”.
A nice looking addition to a country- or cottage-style kitchen or for any interested in jamming, pickling, or candy-making.
The brass case is marked “Brannan, England” to the bottom right.
The thermometer is in great working condition, just a few small stains and some tarnishing to the metal (especially to back) that could be polished out by buyer, if desired.
Approximate measurements: 8” x 2” (hanging loop adds another 2.5” to length); weighs 98.5g.
