Edwardian amethyst and seed pearls set in 935 silver star. Antique.

€0.00

Large amethyst stone, surrounded by tiny silver-skinned seed pearls, set into an 8-point silver star (the silver is a higher grade than sterling).

I suspect the central stone is genuine, as amethyst is fairly high up on the hardness scale and this gem has almost no nicks or scratches; also, and most tellingly, the facets are not even, suggesting this a handout gem. The pearls also appear to be genuine.

Pendant is in great condition with minimal wear to the central stone; all pearls are present and whole, including the two in the bale. I have not polished the silver, leaving the patina intact, but the silver could be easily polished by buyer, if desired. Pendant stamped "SILVER" and "935" to the back.

Clasp is in good working order and I believe is original, but chain looks to be gold coloured, and is possibly a replacement.

Pendant measures approximately 2.2 wide x 2.7cm long (exclusive of bale) x 0.5cm thick; central stone measures 16 x 11 x 7cm; chain 40.4cm long.
