Well crafted bangle made from an antique silver-plated fork by the Portland Co Ltd, headed by Francis Higgins the Third. The fork’s handle is pressed in the popular “Queen’s” pattern and is inscribed with an elaborate “W” or “M”. The tines of the fork have been coaxed into two ornate, Cthulean heart shapes. The overall workmanship is very good.

Would make a sweet Valentine’s gift!

I remember these remodelled silverware pieces being popular in the 1980s, so the fork may have been crafted into a bracelet then, but I have no real way of knowing when the transformation was made.

Bracelet is stamped with a Gothic “fh” inside a heart (this was the mark used by the Portland Co from 1859-1868 for “Francis Higgins III); following this is a mark I cannot distinguish; following this is a Gothic “f” (which I believe indicates the year 1861); and then two more stamps that I believe read “E” and “P” (for electroplate?).

Excellent condition with no noted wear to the silver plate.

The bangle’s opening can be adjusted with a little gentle pressure, if desired. Measures approximately: internal width 2 3/8”; handle end 1” wide; tine end 2” wide; 45g.
