1950s/1960s whipped pistachio satin cocktail party dress with detachable skirts embellished with rosebuds and white velvet leaves. Small.

€0.00

Gorgeous Mid Century formal dress in a stiffened, subdued pastel-green satin.

The form fitting underdress would suit an evening cocktail appointment. When the overskirts—lined with netting to give volume, and ornamented with 3-D vines of rosebuds and white and green velvet leaves—are donned, the dress could be worn at a garden part, wedding, or prom.

Centre bow on overskirts conceals hook-and-eye closures and metal snap fasteners. Scoop neck. Darts to bust, back, and hips. NYNCO green-painted metal zipper to back centre.

The colour is a hard one to capture—it’s somewhere between mint and sage.

Likely made in the USA in the late-60s to early-50s.

The underdress has some nicks, small holes, and runs to the front right (see last pic). These are covered when the overskirts are worn, but quite obvious when worn alone. There are also two faint stains to the front of the dress (too hard to photograph). The overskirts are virtually immaculate, with just two tiny, faint runs to the back, lost in the folds when worn.

Approximate measurements (laid flat): underdress’ waist 13 3/4”, hips 17”, armpit-to-armpit 17 3/4”, arm opening 6”, length shoulder to waist 15”, total length (shoulder to bottom hem) 39 1/2”; overskirts’ waist 14”, centre length 26.5”, bottom hem (when skirt are spread out) 122" wide.
