Antique plumier, painted in a pale teal, overtop which is a scene depicting children playing behind a horse-drawn street cleaning machine, overseen by an English policeman or "Bobby" (similar uniform in the US around this time, so could possibly be American). Likely dates from 1900-1910, based on the machine and policeman’s uniform.

The box once probably included an internal divider and held pens and nibs. The interior shows that was well-used, with many ink stains and some writing. The tiny linchpin hinges are in good order but the screws are a little loose (although the lid is still well-secured).
