1970s yellow-orange wall-hung kitchen scale
This scale was produced in the early 70s, the brainchild of sculptor and designer Ciril Cesar. It features a large face with minimal text, a syringe-style hand, and large hinges to the sides that allow the tray to be easily removed for cleaning. The case's very sleek Space Age era, modernist design is a typical, bright yellowy-orange (the colour of a free range egg yolk!).
Beautiful as well as useful, the scale is clean and in good, working order (we use a similar one in our own kitchen), with no cracks or rust. There are some scuff marks and fine scratches to the front of the case that we could not capture with our camera, but they are largely unnoticeable, unless being sought. Also, the face of the dial has lifted a bit in the upper right hand corner, but the hand does not brush the card and still functions perfectly.
When mounted on a wall, the scale not only economises on space, but also adds a bright splash of colour to your kitchen.
Measures: 8D x 21H x 25W cm when closed.
We also have a red-orange scale for sale at the same price.
