1970s/1980s black and gold sequinned, long sleeved tunic or mini dress. Medium-Large. Hong Kong.
Scintillating, large round sequins in black and gold completely cover this cotton sheath—it is very heavy and consequently drapes well. Can be worn as a mini dress or would look great as a tunic over a pair of wide-legged silk pants.
The trademark on the label was filed in 1977 and was used throughout the 80s, but the lack of shoulder pads and the long sleeves make me think this piece dates from the late 70s disco era or the very early 80s. Labels read: “L’EAU VIVE/M/100% COTTON/RN 55184/MADE IN HONG KONG”.
In very good condition, clean with no odours or stains; the only flaws noted are maybe 10-15 missing sequins, but the only area of baldness are a few tiny patches under one arm (see last pic), and I mention only for the sake of accuracy.
Measures: 31” length; 17” long sleeves; 44” pit-to-pit; 44” waist (no defined waist, as this dress drops straight).
