Antique black lacquered Japanese tea caddy box painted with three red, silver, and gold vignettes
€30.00
Lovely lacquered wooden box with three scenes painted on the top: a diving bird, a woman reeling on a divan with a fan, and a sea island. I believe it is Edwardian-1940s, but it could be older.
Although the paintwork of this box has some damage, it is in good structural condition (aside from the key being absent) and, considering its age, is still very pleasing to the eye. Someone has covered the bottom in felt in recent years and also lined the interior with decorative paper and framing tape.
Measures approximately: 10 1/2” x 7 5/8” x 3 1/2”.
